What is the SAFE Programme?

Empowering Change in Our Society

Youths of tomorrow in association with the valley foundation.

We have participated in and will continue to in many community intervention programs with the Valley Foundation. The Valley Foundation has done much work in the inner city to make Montego Bay and its surrounding environs S.A.F.E. through several initiatives including but not limited to peace through Sports, Arts, Finance and Enterprise & Economics.

Sports:

The young people have expressed their gratitude as sports have taught them good interpersonal relationship skills, conflict resolution, teamwork, and comradery. We have hosted 6 successful competitions thus far in Montego Bay communities of Mt. Salem, Granville, and Spring Garden. Our aim is to create platforms to expose all the indigenous sports of the people including net ball, Ludo, draught, skating, cycling and other championships.

Arts:

Jamaicans are very creative in every regard. We appreciate the relevance of all art forms, especially with the influence of A.I. Thus far we have hosted several peace through art/music and poetry events. We will continue to facilitate online and offline events that facilitate the recital and illustrate concepts through music art and poetry.

Finance:

Financial literacy is an important trait for any individual or business to have. Many Jamaicans including those who own businesses lack detailed financial literacy and access to finance in many regards. We have been conducting financial literacy classes for many people through the constituency as well as many firms, including Vista Print and Hardware and Lumber. We will continue to do the same.  We pledge to continue our financial literacy programs.

Food Security: We have an extensive seed and fertilizer program in place where we donate seeds, fertilizer, and other farming equipment to assist people with urban farming. This has been very successful, and we hope to continue so that we can contribute t increasing Jamaica’s food sustainability.

Economics:

Many people want to start a business, while many people have businesses, but they cannot grow. To this end, we are establishing local community-based chamber of commerce and business clubs to provide technical support and teach people the principles of running a business and staying afloat. But we can’t do it all alone we need your assistance.

Establishing & Upskilling Community Enterprise Groups

The COVID-19 Pandemic has shown us that we need to build resilient community enterprises. Our goal is to establish localised Chambers of Commerce and offer training programmes that help to up-skill people across various communities.
